The Hohenwald & Lewis County Economic Development Council is a non-profit organization governed by a Board of Directors composed of the Mayor of Hohenwald, County Executive of Lewis County and the President of the Lewis County Chamber of Commerce.
The Hohenwald & Lewis County Economic Development Council (EDC) is staffed with an Executive Director and a Secretary. The offices are located in the restored Nashville, Chattanooga and St. Louis Railway Depot located at 112 East Main Street. The goals of the organization are to assist businesses in achieving economic growth and assisting the community in achieving a higher quality of life. The Executive Director, Mr. Philip Griner, thinks the office environment sets the pace for the goals of the EDC. The office environment is a blend of history and the future tastefully blended together. There are typewriters and waybills present that represent the mainstream of commerce in the not so distant past with Internet access, telephones, fax machines and computers available to the staff as tools of modern day commerce. The efforts of the EDC are clearly visible at the Governor's Three Star Awards' Wall. Mr. Griner states that the awards are evidence of common goals shared by the State of Tennessee's ECD and the Hohenwald & Lewis County Economic Development Council. Creating plans that balance the needs of business with a high quality of life is a challenging and rewarding job for the EDC. |
